This past weekend, I had the privilege and honor to pin my brother’s wings on! Robert is now officially a pilot with the United States AirForce and will be flying the CV-22 Osprey!
Let me backtrack a little. Thursday my whole family travelled down to Alabama to see Rob. My mother, Daniel, and two aunts had the privilege of attending the drop ceremony, where Rob found out what aircraft he would be flying — the elusive CV-22.
Friday morning, the family and friends of the pilots were treated to a breakfast and a mini class on night vision goggles (NVGs). I loved the NVGs and they allowed you to see in the dark. It was neat to get to see a part of just what my brother has been learning and what he will be doing in his career.
After our NVGs class, we had the privilege to go onto the flight deck and see three of the helicopters the Airforce flies (the CV-22, HH-60, and the Huey). We were super excited as they actually flew in 2 Ospreys (one Airforce and one Marine) and allowed us to look into the aircraft — what a treat!!

I get to pretend to be the pilot, with the best co-pilot ever!!! Even if to just sit in the pilot seat, it was a fabulous few minutes!
Our clan — can you tell it was a windy day?
After a marvelous time seeing the helicopters, we got a quick-lunch, got dressed, and headed back for Rob’s pinning ceremony. Rob gave us the honor to pin his Wings on him. Mom, Dad, Daniel, Gloria, and I got to go up pin his wings on — it was such a huge honor — thanks Rob!! I am so glad that I got to attend this amazing ceremony. I could not be prouder of my baby brother! Love you Rob!
I end telling about the amazing time we had celebrating Rob’s accomplishments, with a picture my brothers and I have taken many times. We make a great trio!!
