Privacy policy
This explains what information is collected when you enquire or when your child has lessons, why it is collected, and what happens to it.
Who is responsible
Learning With Liz is run by one person, Elizabeth Baker, a teacher registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. There are no other staff, no contractors and no agency. Any information you provide is handled by her personally.
What is collected
When you use the enquiry form, you provide:
- your name and email address
- your child's year level
- what you would like help with, and a preferred session length
- anything you choose to write in the message field
If your child goes on to have lessons, the following is also kept: the results of their pre-assessment, the plan written from it, their work, and the lesson notes sent to you after each session.
The website does not use analytics, advertising trackers or third party cookies. Nothing you do on the site is profiled.
Why it is collected
Your enquiry details are used to answer your enquiry and arrange an introductory call, and for nothing else. Assessment results, plans, work and notes exist so that lessons can be planned properly and so you can see how your child is progressing.
Your details are never sold, rented, or used to market anything to you.
Where it is stored, and who else sees it
Enquiries submitted through this website are received and stored by Netlify, the service that hosts the site, and are then read by Elizabeth. Lessons are delivered over Zoom, so Zoom handles the video connection. Student work, assessments and notes are kept in Elizabeth's own records.
Nobody else has access. Information is only ever disclosed to a third party where the law requires it, or where there is a serious concern for a child's safety, which is an obligation every registered teacher carries.
Children's information
Information about a child is provided by, and belongs to, their parent or guardian. It is used only for teaching that child. Work and assessments are never published, shared as examples, or used in marketing. A child is never identified on this website.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to lessons are deleted within twelve months. Student records are kept while your child is having lessons and for two years afterwards, in case you come back or need a copy, and are then deleted.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask at any time for a copy of what is held about you or your child, ask for something to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Emailliz@learningwithliz.com and it will be dealt with within a reasonable time, normally a few days.
If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, say so in reply and it will be looked at again. You can also raise a privacy concern with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Anything materially different will be mentioned to current families directly rather than quietly updated here.
