The arrangement in plain English: how booking works, what things cost, when you are billed, and what happens when a session cannot go ahead.

The service

Private tutoring for students from Foundation to Year 9, taught by Elizabeth Baker, a teacher registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. All sessions are online, over Zoom. Nothing is outsourced to anyone else.

Getting started

Every family starts with a free introductory call of about fifteen minutes. There is no obligation and nothing to pay for it.

If you go ahead, the first paid session is a pre-assessment rather than a lesson. It establishes what your child can already do and where the gaps are, and the teaching plan is written from what it finds.

Rates

Private one to one sessions:

  • 30 minutes, $45
  • 60 minutes, $90
  • 120 minutes, $170

Small group sessions run for 30 minutes at $15 per student, in groups of three to four grouped by ability. Packages are listed on the pricing page.

Every rate includes the planning, the resources, the marking and the lesson notes. Nothing is added afterwards. Not registered for GST, so there is no GST added to any of these rates.

If rates change, families already having lessons are told at least one month beforehand.

Payment

Sessions are billed on the last day of each month, for the sessions taken that month. There is nothing to pay up front. Direct debit can be set up if you would rather it came out automatically.

Cancelling or rescheduling

Forty eight hours notice is required to cancel a session. A reschedule is available depending on availability, and make up sessions can be taken during school holidays. A forgotten session is charged in full. Your teacher waits online for ten minutes before a session is treated as forgotten.

If Elizabeth needs to cancel a session, it is rescheduled at a time that suits you at no cost, and you are never charged for it.

Packages

Packages are blocks of sessions paid up front. If your circumstances change part way through a block, get in touch and the remaining sessions will be sorted out with you directly.

Ending regular sessions

You can stop at any time. Let Elizabeth know before the next scheduled session so it is not booked in, and you will only be billed for sessions already taken.
